Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore

This introspective and layered documentary tells the story of Marlee Matlin, who became the first deaf actor to win an Academy Award. Thrust into the spotlight at a young age, this film follows the complex and inspiring journey of Matlin who was born into a hearing family, having suffered from isolation and abuse before finding joy in the performing arts. The film’s director Shoshannah Stern, who is also deaf, was inspired by Matlin growing up. NOT ALONE ANYMORE explores the story of a true trailblazer with interviews featuring the people who know her the best.
