In partnership with the Princeton University Art Museum – this series explores movies that riff on the theme of memory, inspired by the exhibition Léni Paquet-Morante: Extract / Abstract. Before the film, visit Art@Bainbridge to see the exhibition, on view through November 9.
With his sophomore feature film, Christopher Nolan crafted an impressive and cleverly constructed neo-noir that tells its story in reverse. Guy Pearce plays a man with a rare condition that doesn’t allow him to make new memories. This presents a challenge as he attempts to hunt down the man responsible for murdering his wife, as he is forced to leave clues for himself along the way. Featuring a memorable performance from Pearce. Nolan’s puzzle box of a film is an incredibly effective thriller about the nature of perception. Rated R.
